W. C. Handy Blues Awards Festival

２３日に受賞者の発表が行われました。発表後、Beale St.にあるNew Daisy Theaterで 朝５時までジャムセッションが行われたもよう。（入って見るにはこのイベント用のチケットが必要、$75、高い!!） Handy Award Weekend、期間中にはBeale St.各クラブにて多数バンドが出演します。２４日はローカルブルースミュージシャンなど$１０のリストバンドでどこのクラブにも入れるのでお得ですね。 そういえば、去年の４月から通りでアルコールを飲むことが禁止される法律ができる、と言っていたのはどうなったんでしょうか。こういうお祭りの時は例外なのかな？ 夜１１時からは船上でアラバマからのブルースバンドの演奏。（$30）
最後には、Memphis Queen (riverboat) でミシシッピ・リバーを眺めながらブランチしつつゴスペルやブルースが聞けるCruise Eventも行われました。（$45、高いね！)

Memphis in May
５月に行われるお祭りで、メンフィス各地でいろんな催しがあるようです。真夜中のサイクリング・ツアーとか。。。
毎年、世界のどこかの都市が一つ選ばれて、このFestivalに参加することになっているようです。
ミシシッピ川の河川敷では５月最初の週末に"Riverside Festival"というコンサートがあります。
Lynyrd SkynyrdやAllman Bros.なども近年出演してました。毎年、チケットは早めに獲得しないと、当日券の購入は困難です。 同じ時期（だいたいMemphis in May の１週間前の週末）に、NashvilleでもRiverside Festivalというコンサートがあるのですが、出演者をチェックすると、 だいたい同じ構成となっています（特にロックバンド）。みんなこうやって流れているのですねぇ、東から西へ。。。
